Never tell an eight year-old that there is no such thing as Santa Claus.  Especially if that eight year-old is the Londonderry Police Department’s K-9, Zip.  It seems that Zip was a very good boy this year because Santa rewarded him with a full-body bite suit.
Don't tell Zip, but the generous gift came from the people at Charles George Trucking of Londonderry.

The suit, worn by a Department volunteer, is used to train the K-9 in suspect apprehension and detention.  Unlike a bite sleeve, the full-body suit allows Officer Perry the opportunity to train Zip in biting other areas of the body, not just the arms.  The burlap and canvas suit, if worn correctly, will protect the wearer from any serious injury inflicted by the K-9.  However, according to Lt. Chris Gandia who demonstrated the suit “I could feel that bite pretty good.”

Pictured here with Zip are, from left, K-9 Officer John Perry, Karen George, Chuck Bolianites, and Michael Karras in the back.
