October Programs

 

Halloween Program: This halloween, the library is pleased to present Tommy James and his Halloween Magic Show.This Halloween magic show has it all. A magic wand that takes on a life of it's own! A haunted jack-o-lantern! A floating zombie pumpkin! Ghosts, goblins and Bunnicula the Vampire Bunny, a real live bunny! Also added in are some messages on Halloween safety, such as wearing bright reflective clothing and having parents check the candy before you eat it. Mr. James will be performing his show at the Leach Library on Monday, October 27 and Tuesday, October 28, 2008, from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Children wishing to participate in a costume parade prior to the show should arrive at the library at 3:30 p.m. All children attending the program will receive a reflective Trick or Treat bag, compliments of the Friends of the Library. The bag is filled with neat activities, prizes and a simple craft.

The program is open to all ages, and space is limited to 75 people for this program. Advance registration is required and begins on Monday, October 20, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. To register stop by or call the Children’s Room.

Fall Programs - The Children's Room will be offering the following programs as part of Fall Session 1: After School Stories, Story Time, and Toddler Time.  Fall Session 2 will run October 28, through November 25.  Advance Registration is required and begins on Tuesday, October 14 at 9:00 a.m.  

         

After School Stories - Open to children grades 1 to 4. Meets on Tuesdays  from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m.

Story Time - Open to children ages 4 to 6. Meets on Wednesdays from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. or 1:00 - 1:45 p.m.

Toddler Time- Open to children ages 2 & 3.  Meets on Thursdays from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.

 

Tail Waggin' Tutors- Come meet Nilla, a gentle and loving dog, who has very soft ears and loves to have children read to her. Nilla loves all types of stories, and is a patient listener who quietly understands what is being read. Nilla is a certified therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International, who visits libraries to give children the opportunity to read to an attentive and supportive audience. When she is not listening to children read to her, she enjoys having her belly rubbed. Nilla will be at the Library on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Call the Children's Room starting on Monday, October 6, 2008 to reserve your 15 minute slot. This program is open for children in grades 1 to 6.
