Beautify Londonderry is the town wide clean up that takes place weekends mid-April through mid-May. The heart of this initiative
lies in residents volunteering their time to work together and polish their neighborhoods and public spaces. Some groups focus
on litter along the roadways while others make improvements to the community landscape. Projects include raking, weeding and
planting at school grounds and fields, Morrison House, Town Common, Senior Center, Kendall Pond and Musquash Conservation Areas, and
other town properties, as well as roadside litter cleanup throughout the town. It’s a wonderful time for young people to plan
and perform a service project, and for neighbors and friends to have fun together doing something for their town.
All this is
accomplished through the efforts of the volunteers and generosity of Beautify Londonderry sponsors. With the help of sponsors
we are able to provide work gloves, safety vests, trash and recycling bags, mulch, and plants. The assistance of the Police
Department and Highway Crew allows for police escorts during roadside litter collection and the pick up of materials once collected.
The goal is to keep the activities as safe and as easy as possible. Beautify Londonderry 2008 is scheduled for April
19th through May 18th. If you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring the event, please complete the appropriate registration
form. For more information contact Carolyn O'Connor at
