The Londonderry Child Passenger Safety Program currently consists of Nationally Certified Child
Passenger Safety Technicians who have completed a 32-hour course in the proper installation of child restraints from infants to young
adults. The purpose of this program is to provide guidance, information and instruction with the installation of child restraints
(car seats) into a motor vehicle, to the citizens of
|
| ||||
|
Injuries from motor vehicle
crashes are the leading cause of unintentional injuries for children under the age of 12, and these injuries are the leading cause
of death for children between the ages of 1 and 14.

|
The program, through its established car seat hotline located at the Londonderry
Police Department, various talks to community organizations and the yearly Londonderry Child Safety Day, provides the necessary knowledge
to parents, grandparents and care givers to safely transport children in a motor vehicle. Many of the calls to the hotline are to
schedule an appointment to have their car seat installation inspected for proper installation and to make certain their child is safe
while riding in a motor vehicle.

The technicians attend annual refresher courses to keep up on the newer information and equipment
available for children. The technicians are also required to re-certify their knowledge every 2 years through a National Safe Kids
Coalition test. Safe Kids Coalition is the national organization overseeing the program across the country.

You may call the
Car Seat Hotline at anytime if you have questions regarding your child’s safety, to schedule an appointment to have your installation
inspected, or to have a technician speak at your organization’s next event or meeting. You may call the Londonderry Police non-emergency
number, (603) 432-1118, ask for the hotline voice mail and leave a message. One of the technicians will return your call. Due to scheduling,
please allow a couple of days for a return call.

Our next Londonderry Child Safety Day is not currently scheduled, but stayed
